Pick the right split column

Columns with too many unique values (e.g. order ID) will produce thousands of sheets — use category-like columns (region, month, status) instead.

All splitting happens in your browser. Output files are generated locally and downloaded — your data never reaches any server.

Performance

For very large files (50k+ rows), prefer row-count splitting over column-value splitting — it's memory-efficient and predictable.

Row integrity

Enable "Include headers in each sheet" so every output file is independently usable. Empty-value rows go to "Uncategorized" if enabled.

What can I split a file by?

By column values (e.g. one sheet per region), by date ranges (year/month/day), or by fixed row counts (e.g. 1000 rows per file).

How many output files can be created?

There is a configurable cap (10–100) to prevent runaway splits. Adjust it under Advanced Options if you really need more.

Will my formulas and formatting be preserved?

Cell values are preserved exactly. Cell formatting (colors, borders) carries over for most cases; formulas are replaced by their evaluated values.

What if a column has empty values?

Empty values can be sent to a dedicated "Uncategorized" sheet by enabling that option — they won't be silently dropped.
